Some say I must be crazy
Some think I've lost my way
Others just don't see their conscience is hazy
Duplicity is a game I just won't play
You think you know me inside out
Behind these young eyes I got wise
I'll tell ya this isn't what life's about
If you wanna know the truth, look to the skies
(Chorus)
This universe just don't lie
Cover up if choose not to feel
The reality's there deep inside
Quit being someone else... just get real
Haven't ya learned it's okay to be yourself
The ones that matter are the ones who believe
In my eyes I see through the trinkets and wealth
Stick with me, kid - I'll realise your dreams
(Bridge)
Temptation's all over the place
This world sure is a crazy daze
Competition's healthy, obsession's a waste
I won't give in, I know a better way
(Instrumental)
(Repeat verses 1 and 2 and chorus to end)
(C) NZ 2008.

Hi Steve,
I know it's been a while since we talked about doing something with this song - I still haven't heard back from you yet though, I expect you've been really busy - as have I so if you're still interested in hooking up, please call me on 07772 292346.
Cheers,

Hi Steve, Apologies for not
Hi Steve,
Apologies for not getting in touch sooner - it's been really hectic for me in the last couple of weeks. If you're still up for collaborating with me I'd love to! I've already had 6 jam sessions with a good mate of mine, Tom Read, which took all place between 30 August and 7 December 2008 and recorded everything we jammed onto audio cassettes (there are 57 tracks in all (48 original songs, 3 alternative versions of original songs and 6 improvised tracks, me on vocals and lyrics and Tom on guitar and he also wrote the music) so I've got music put to this and many other tunes that Tom and I recorded together. However, this offer of yours is also a really good idea as the lyrics could be experimented with via different melodies so yeah I'm up for that!
Let me know either way,

a song
and its hard to guess how it would be sung. I like the irony of soneone who has a 'hazy conscience' - very well understated phrase that! Also find the world is a crazy daze effective. After that, I guess it inhabits more the relam of song than poetry? Would like perhaps a few more things in the poem and a few less idea words...?
Real
Hi Pete,
I've already recorded this song onto audio cassette - it was recorded on 30 August 2008 at a jam session at my mate Tom Read's place with me on vocals and Tom on guitar. I can bring it in at some point and let you have a listen to it! I know I sang one last night so I was thinking of perhaps waiting until one of the next open sessions - possibly the week after next? It's a lot mellower than "Even Though You're Gone", possibly even a little melancholy in style, but I'll let you be the judge!
All told, I think you'll be really surprised because Tom is a genius with a guitar - he really worked his magic on the song!

notes
Hi Nadrock - have read the lyrics and would appreciate the music so that i could sense the atmosphere...

As with my reply to your
As with my reply to your feedback on my other song lyrics for "I've Been There Too", we can get together and thrash out some ideas if you like!

Real
This is another song which I wrote on 7 July 2008, the day after "I've Been There Too", which is pretty self-explanatory really. Many people let their individuality pass them by and thus let the best of themselves get away just by choosing to "fit in" and "be cool" which is quite sad really so that theme inspired me to write this song.
