I AM

Am not what anybody says
am who i want to be
am wondering what my life holds for me
am searching to find my direction

Was trapped in a place where i didnt want to be
was alone wanting someone to come and help me
was stuck wondering if i was ever going to be able to overcome this
was lost someone lonley watching in despair

Will be able to overcome this
will be stronger than i was before
will be the person i'm meant to be
will be remembered for who i was then and who i am now

I think this is very good

I think this is very good and also inspirational. You are not where you come from, nor are you at now, but will be where you want. Again I can relate to this, I believe there are many challanges in life which are sent to make you stronger and wiser, and this shines in your work!

its very moving, it reads

its very moving, it reads like an incantation, something to say before u brace yourself to do something difficult, a summoning of strength before an act or acts of transformation. I like the movement of the tenses from am to was to will. There is an obvious deeper layer of emotion, of "specificness" (is that a word?) just below the surface of the... Read More poem, that you might write as another verse some time later in your life, perhaps when you have achieved a little more distance from what moved you to write ... Its a lovely poem and holds a lot of promise.

Hi Loreen,

I know I commented on this poem before -on facebook? - but I cant find the comment (duh, gettin old). Could you find it and cut and paste it into the blog here. I know, in short I liked the 'am was will' structure and felt it was a brave, inspiring poem esp for someone so young, with much potential for development of specific detail, but only when you are ready for that since even to go there at the moment might be too painful, let alone to share with others -pete
